Structural defects insurance provider Advantage Home Construction Insurance (AHCI) is now a fully approved code sponsor after completing the CTSI Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) process, offering a new level of customer protection and trade accreditation for customers.

Structural defects insurance provider Advantage Home Construction Insurance (AHCI) is now a fully approved code sponsor after completing the CTSI Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) process, offering a new level of customer protection and trade accreditation for customers.

Being a CTSI code sponsor will give social housing providers the reassurance that they will receive the highest level of customer service and protection on the structural defects insurance required on all new build properties.

Scheme approval provides the consumer with a level of comfort and assurances to most if not all high street lenders when obtaining warranty cover.

The 12-year structural defects insurance warranty protects social landlords against any structural defects on new homes they are developing and renting to tenants.

The insurance is taken out by housebuilders during construction and once approved is issued to the developer and passed on to social landlords on completion for homes that are built for social and affordable rent.

Following the collapse of Alpha earlier this year, who had provided thousands of structural defects warranties, many homeowners and social landlords were left without vital structural defects insurance on their properties and forced to take retrospective cover.

The CTSI approval tells social landlords that Warrington-based Advantage understand fair trading practices and have in place all the correct documentation and insurances.

Many of the leading lenders will now only provide funding once structural warranties have been provided by a broker who is approved under the CTSI codes scheme.
